Big update after the Wowie Jam 4.0
Welcome back to m(ai)ze!
Two months ago the development of this project started with the Wowie Jam 4.0 .
Since then it got silent around the project due to me (Jakob) being a solo developer and also having a full time job.
I also moved, so it was quite stressful, but now I had the time to adress some bugs and refactor a lot of my code.
There is also some new content and big news, so let's head right into it:
New content:
First of all, I am happy to introduce new tiles, the teleporters! I don't think they need any explanation, since everybody
already knows, what a teleporter is. They come in two versions, the single use teleporter, which deactivates after usage,
and the multiple use teleporter, which as you would guess, stays active to be used multiple times.
There is also a new mechanic, the frequencies. They can be used to link specific doors and checkpoints, which allows for more
diversity in levels.
Another thing are the new soundtracks, thanks to Dr Ron!
The editor changed as well, you are now able to select the starting rotation of the robot and the debug console got updated to
inform you about necessary changes for your level to work. You are also able to change the level dimensions from 4x4 up to 21x21.
The main menu got a small update with a polished level selection. I am really proud of how it turned out :)
There are also a lot of bugfixes, but to be honest, I lost track of everything I fixed and since this is a big update,
you guys will probably find some new bugs, so keep my up to date with that, it's much appreciated.
News:
I will be adding some more tiles in the future, I already have a few ideas like teleporters with limited use.
Also there is going to be a mobile version! At first android only, but I look forward for an IOS launch as well.
That's it for now, I really hope you enjoy the new update!
Jakob
